An investigation is underway after a man died while in police custody in St. Paul in March.

Five weeks after their first annual general meeting since before the COVID-19 pandemic, the Greater Lakeland Rural Crime Watch Association gathered in Elk Point to plan for a more active role than they have played in keeping Lakeland communities safe during that time. 

Head coach Derek Zapisocki said the Bengals are now preparing for the upcoming season. Spring camp will begin in May and recruitment is also underway.

Seven members of the team received awards during the event, which took place on March 22.

Bonnyville RCMP report they are on scene of a serious motor vehicle collision on Range Road 460 between Township Road 610 and 604.

On Feb. 22, Craig Christensen competed during the Pendlerrennet in Norway. The 33-year-old, who was raised in Mallaig, works as an engineer and has called Norway his home for the past seven years. 

The event took place at the Lac La Biche Heritage Society on March 22.
